Hoss is 1 Year Old Today, Happy Birthday, Hossey
Happy Birthday from Hoss and us to all the Story/Nero August 2, 2009 pups! Hi from Hossey to Sarah, proud 'LilMomma! We hope all the new puppies and their future homes and people enjoy their Story/Nero 2010 puppies as much as we enjoy our sweet Hossey boy. He is our big, teddy bear, loves to play big goof, that we love very much!!
Photo Taken August 1, 2010, Hoss finding a cool place to hang out on a hot day.
In the loft of our cabin, Hoss is in his 'Hossey's Hideaway, Ole!', which is behind the sofa where the high pitch roof line comes down behind the sofa and makes a little place where he likes to go and can see what is happening downstairs. The pine posts are part of the stairway that goes downstairs.
This photo was taken mid June a few days before we moved. Hoss actually stayed at a nice boarding place while we did the UHaul truck moving, and he enjoyed playing with several other dogs at the kennel. In the photo he is enjoying a bully stick amongst all the packing and chaos, and sea of boxes. Isn't it amazing how much older he looks in the more recent photos (the other two photos in this post)--taken just six weeks later!

A Cute Hossey Story
Sarah, this story is especially for you.
Each night when we go to bed, Hoss has his nylabone and donut toy to sleep with. In a previous post (Lovey Puppy In The Morning), we described how in the morning Hoss takes each toy to the living room, drops it and waits for us to come give him lots of praise.
Well, the other afternoon, Hoss picked up his donut toy on the living room floor and took it to the bedroom and then immediately turned around and raced out to the living room with the donut toy in his mouth. He dropped the donut toy on the living room floor and looked up at us with his happy Hossey face, waiting to be praised.
Of course, we made a big deal about it and gave him lots of praise and lovey puppy affection.
This shows how smart these Shiloh Shepherd dogs are! Hoss figured all this out on his own. This also shows how praise motivated he is, which is great for training and having a loving, loyal companion.
After Hoss received lots of praise for taking his donut toy to the living room on his own, he was all excited and proud, and started the racing through the house zoomies. We cracked up laughing. He loves to play!

Like Father, Like Son
Like his father Nero, Hoss likes to eat his kibbles lying down. After finishing his kibbles, he gets his mush, and either some sardines or raw chopped up chicken livers and yogurt, and then a couple raw chicken wings to munch on. Yum, yum!
We measured Hoss a couple days ago, and he is 31 inches tall.

Lovey Puppy In The Morning, and Other Cute Hoss Photos
We did this post backwards, because this program used to publish it backwards. Now it publishes it the way you put it in. Anyway, since this program won't let us copy or cut and paste, you need to start at the bottom of this post for it to make sense. Thank you.
Hoss likes to bask in the sun on his beach towel with his toys after having a bath.
What a cute puppy you are, Hoss. One ear in and one out, and chin on his pentapull toy, on the lower shelf of the coffee table. Ahhhh!
We hand him his donut toy and say 'take it to the living room' and he trots out to the living room with his donut toy. He drops his donut toy in the living room and looks up at us wagging his tail, waiting for praise. Of course, he gets lots of praise and told what a good and smart boy he is. This is part of the morning routine.

Then we call him back into the bedroom to get his donut toy.

In the morning, after lovey puppy time, we hand Hoss his bone toy and tell him to 'take it to the living room'. He trots out to the living room with it, wagging his tail all the way, drops the bone toy in the living room and looks up at us proudly waiting for praise. We give him lots of praise and hugs.

Epicurian Puppy
Hoss likes his food served with each type of food located separate from the others in his bowl; kibble, homemade goat milk yogurt and mush. He eats some of this and some of that, enjoying the different flavours. Our discerning gourmet puppy! Janet got quite a kick out of seeing his meal, which we delivered with Hoss for his play date with her pack. She commented 'all that was missing was some raspberry coulis drizzle on top'.

Recent Hoss Photos
Saturday morning, chewing on a bully stick and watching London on 'The Littlest Hobo'--great way to start the day! (photo taken Nov. 21, 2009)

Hoss talks to Mom and Dad a lot. Even though he doesn't speak English, he seems to get us to understand what he wants. :-) What a cute face you have, Hoss! (photo taken Nov. 30, 2009)

Too tired to get all the way on or off the bed; this will have to do. (photo taken December 6, 2009)
Today, December 11, 2009, Hoss weighs 60 pounds and is 18 weeks and 5 days old. Last week on Dec. 1, 2009, he weighed 55 pounds. At this rate, he will be a very big boy by the time he is full grown!

Hoss Gets a Visit From Janet

Janet (Timba and Alaska's Mom for those who may not know) is now able to get around most places without her crutches, and is doing very well in recovering from knee surgery! She came to visit Hoss and we all had a nice visit and fun play time. Hoss is giving Janet a nice big slurpy kiss in the photo.
